Permanent make-up

Permanent make-up:

is the micro-implantation of pigment into the upper layer of the skin - a "permanent make-up" that lasts 1-2 years, depending on the intensity of the colour applied. The procedure is done with a fine needle, placing natural pigment 0.2 mm under the skin. It is only minimally painful, as special anaesthetics are used before and throughout the whole PMU application. Permanent make-up can enhance the beautiful features of your face and conceal its imperfections.

Benefits of permanent make-up:

a very natural look that lets you look good outdoors, by the water and during any sport, and it is ideal for women who don't like wearing make-up. PMU can help women with atypical concerns - the shape of their brows, lips or eyes - and give them back their confidence. Each half of the face is different, so for some of us it is very difficult, even impossible, to draw both sides the same - whether brows, lips or eyeliner - and we end up redoing them several times. With permanent make-up you wake up groomed and happy. It helps with exactly that and can save you up to an hour every day. And PMU isn't just for women - it suits men too and is now often applied to them as well.

The permanent make-up procedure:

1.

consultation on whether PMU is suitable for you and what is possible

2.

make-up removal if needed and disinfection of the area to be treated

3.

Application of a topical anaesthetic cream

4.

Pre-drawing the shape - consultation and choice of a suitable PMU shade

5.

Pigment application

Care before and after PMU

Preparation:
  • come to your PMU appointment having eaten; avoid coffee for at least 3 hours beforehand and alcohol for 24 hours before; no make-up for at least 12 hours; no sunbeds for 2 days
  • you must not be ill on the day of the appointment - i.e. taking antibiotics or other medication for a viral infection
  • take preventive measures against cold sores as instructed: if you are having lip PMU, take plenty of vitamins, especially B and C, for some time before the procedure. If you suffer from cold sores, it is advisable to take antivirals - e.g. Herpesin tablets - at least 2 days before lip PMU. Available on prescription only.
  • for eyeliner PMU you must not have eyelash extensions, and you need to stop using lash growth serums at least 2 weeks before the PMU application.
Hygiene and materials:
  • all tools and supplies used for PMU are always sterile and single-use; no material is ever reused.

Numbing before and during the procedure:
  • as facial skin is very sensitive, a topical anaesthetic is used during the application to reduce discomfort.
  • for eyelid PMU, special soothing eye drops are also used

The application itself:
  • is always carried out strictly according to the pre-drawn design approved by the client

Aftercare instructions:
Once your PMU has been applied, you are halfway to success. The other half depends on how you care for it while it heals. Healing depends on your activity, skin type and environment. Initial regeneration takes 4 to 7 days; full, deep healing up to 6 weeks. This period can be divided into two stages: the first lasts until the scabs fall off, the second until the skin has fully healed and the colour has stabilised.

In the first stage the PMU looks very intense, because the pigment mixed with lymph and blood turns darker in the scabs. The scabs may last 2-4 days (brows up to a week) and then start to flake off. Once they have fallen off naturally, the final shape appears. The final colour settles after 5 weeks (after the first stage the pigment is considerably lighter than the final result). The first stage is the crucial period for a good result. Throughout healing you must not soak the scabs, pick them off or try to speed up healing with any products. The pigment is placed very shallowly in the skin, and during healing the skin begins to push it out, forming a scab. Underneath, the skin heals and reabsorbs the released pigment. If you soak a scab heavily or remove it too early, nothing will be absorbed and a gap will form that needs a touch-up. Conversely, if the area gets dirty, unwanted substances may be absorbed too, which can cause colour changes or infection. In the first 24 hours it is a good idea to blot the lymph with a paper tissue to prevent large scabs from forming. During this period you should also sleep only on your back, avoid dirty environments, stay away from gyms, swimming pools and sunbeds, protect yourself from the sun, and avoid self-tanners, powders, products with AHA acids, any greasy products and make-up, as well as physical exertion. If you have plenty of your own brow hair and want to enhance or define the shape, in exceptional cases a few of your own brow hairs may come out with the scab - this is normal, especially with the powder or ombre technique. The brows will grow back. After lip PMU don't use lipstick, and be careful with strongly coloured foods and drinks (coffee, wine, etc.) - ideally avoid them and drink through a straw. Don't brush your teeth in the evening.

For brows, start applying the aftercare cream you receive after your PMU no earlier than 24 hours after the procedure, in a minimal amount once a day. If you have oily skin, don't apply the cream at all unless the skin feels very tight.

Eyeliner - do not apply any cream.

Lips need special care and must be kept well hydrated - apply the cream up to 5 times a day. Never peel off the scabs - they will fall off on their own.

A follow-up touch-up to set the colour, refine the shape or fill in any missing PMU is done 1-3 months after the first PMU application.
PMU is not recommended:
  • if you have a vascular disease
  • if you bleed easily or have reduced blood clotting - i.e. you take anticoagulants. Medication such as Heparin, Acylpyrin or Warfarin must be stopped 28 days before PMU
  • if you are allergic to anaesthetics, needles or disinfectants
  • if you have psoriasis or another skin condition, poor blood clotting, HIV or hepatitis, take medication for high blood pressure, or take psychiatric medication or antibiotics
  • if you have a thyroid condition, you must consult your doctor before PMU
  • if you have your period on the day of the procedure, the application may be more painful - if you are more sensitive
  • during pregnancy
  • after chemotherapy, PMU is possible no earlier than 6 months after the end of treatment

Eyebrows are key to the overall expression of the face. Permanent make-up can adjust the colour, shape, density, intensity and length of your brows, including minor asymmetries and unevenness. Brows frame the face, so precise work is essential. Before every PMU application we discuss your vision together, carefully pre-draw the brows, choose a suitable colour and, depending on what is possible and what you would like, create solid, 3D hair-stroke or microbladed brows. I numb the brows before and during the PMU application, which makes it almost painless.

Eyebrow permanent make-up:

Lip permanent make-up can achieve truly great results where the lips are uneven or asymmetrical. We can adjust their length and shape, add volume or simply intensify the colour of your lips. Before every PMU application I carefully discuss your vision with you. I pre-draw the future shape of your lips, together we choose a suitable colour and shape, and once you approve, I begin the PMU application. I always numb the lips before and during the application, which makes it almost painless.

Lip permanent make-up

Eyeliner can make your lashes look thicker, or change or emphasise the shape of your eyes, visually evening out minor asymmetries. We can apply a line along the whole length of the eye with a more defined wing - a replacement for eye make-up - a line that fades out softly, or simply define the eyes with dots between the lashes. Before every PMU application we discuss your vision together - the length, thickness and ending of the line. I partially pre-draw the lines, numb the eyelids with a local anaesthetic and, once you approve, I begin the PMU application. I numb the eyelids before and during the PMU application.
